Givers Feel the Heat, Too: Experience of Burning out under Fire of Psychological Distress among Healthcare Workers during COVID-19 Pandemic

Background: Burnout is considered a condition of great public concern due to its biopsychosocial consequences which include poor quality life. Healthcare providers have been described as high-risk population for experiencing burnout. Psychological distress also strong predictor experience burnout among healthcare workers who are burdened with the demand system. This particularly so in sub-Saharan Africa. The period COVID-19 might impacted on burden experienced by professionals.
 Objective: study was determine and relationship psychosocial variables tertiary health care facility.
 Methods: sample this from facility southwest Nigeria. questionnaire comprised three sections: information socio-demographic work-related characteristics respondents; Maslach-Burnout-Inventory (MBI), Kessler Distress Scale (K10) used screening mental respondents. Student t-test one-way ANOVA were compare means scores respondents both MBI K-10 scales.
 Results: A total 214 mean age 36.49±9.05 participated study. Seventy-six (35.5%) had high level MBI. There statistically significant difference score emotional exhaustion subscale gender dimension doctors significantly higher than nurses. Emotional correlated negatively respondents’ years at work (r = -0.181, p 0.008). Thirty-seven (17.3%) suffered mild severe psychological indicated their scale distress.
 Conclusion: brought fore relevant correlates group essential providers.
